The Battery Room
From The Current Encyclopedia
The Battery Room is a novel by Elias Wrenfield and the third book of The Current series. It covers the same year as Book 1 from the other side of the bench, through the chemist Priya Raman.
Premise
Priya is the one who stays. When a freezer fails at midnight, she moves four thousand vials by hand. Most evenings the head of her division sits on the stool beside her bench, asks nothing, and watches her work. She sleeps nine hours and wakes up exhausted. So she measures it: a cheap temperature logger hidden under her shelf, a gift from the last woman who noticed, and a spreadsheet of who was in the room. Every dip is small. She would reject it from anyone else.
